Vancouver Creatives Two - June 4th

We are pleased to be a part of the opening of Vancouver Creatives Two which will be held at Make Gallery, starting June 4th until July 3rd 2015.

A few months back Bastien and Virginie of VNB took a glorious portrait of Isabelle in her store, using an antique box camera.  We had a wonderful time meeting them and the shoot itself was quite illuminating.  As you can see from the poster above they have photographed several really interesting and inspiring people from around Vancouver, and it's quite an honour to be included in the exhibition.

An added bonus to our meeting VNB is they have asked us to perform at the opening party! 
Combine the Victorious will be playing two sets on June 4th amid all the stunning photos: 7:30 and 9:00.   Admission is free and the doors open from 6-10PM.

We are pleased to announce that we will be the special guests at the next Shadowline night at the Waldorf Hotel here in Vancouver.   Tied in with Vancouver Fashion week this is a special showcase on November 22nd.  Also in keeping with the Goth vibe of the night Combine is performing at Midnight.  A special cover song is being prepared in the spirit of the evening. Also we have just signed on to appear at the Indie Pop Vancouver night, Dec 7th at the B-Ex on Kingsway (British Ex-Serviceman's Association).   Combine is headlining the night but we are very excited to be sharing the bill with The Population Drops , a band that I've been recording over the summer and am really impressed with!  The Rain and the Sidewalk is slated to open the night.  We are hoping to make it into an early Xmas party. New Song: Brotherhood

Brotherhood is a song that I started writing in response to a very dear friend taking his own life back in 2012.  Our friend Todd Simko , who I'd played in Pure with back in the nineties, and who later performed with Combine the Victorious for several shows in 2007 and 2008, left us in the spring of 2012.  His death created a disturbing wake of emotions that eventually found their way into this song. Back in January or February of 2013 I remember starting the core idea one afternoon and the song took shape quite rapidly.  The lyrics are personal but I tried to keep them open to interpretation rather than literal; it's been a sad realization that this kind of incident isn't as rare as it may seem.   The truth is all four of us: Juice, Misty, Isabelle and I were heavily affected by Todd's death, and it's been many months of processing.  We recorded this version back in the summer, on a beautiful day in Vancouver full of sunshine and laughs.  Misty is playing the

New today "I Really Like Your Style"

 It is really exciting to release this single today! This is the first song we've written with our new guitarist (and longtime friend) Daniel Clement . I Really Like Your Style is a slight departure from the trip-hop inspired songs of the past few years. We start out with a kind of homage to that sound but then quickly shift into a more uplifting reggae influenced sound that builds to a charming chorus filled with Isabelle's lifting melody.  This song has been brewing in the background for a while now but truly came to life when we shared it with Dan. The addition of the guitar changed everything about our approach and the song transformed into the shape we have today. During the past months one day in rehearsal Dan and I were jamming on a descending riff and then Isabelle popped into the studio and sang the line "Is this everything you wanted."
